Our new 3,000 sq. ft. food pantry
and warehouse was completed in January 2003 debt free. This
facility
was built on donated land located at 1625 N. Blair. It is also
accessible for trucks to unload off the feeder of Highway
59 North.
We are open four days a week providing groceries
to those needing assistance. Monday, Tuesday Thursday and Friday the pantry
is open from 11:00 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. Those needing help need to bring a photo
identification,
proof of residence and proof of income. Volunteers interview these and endeavor
to offer help during a difficult time.
The pantry is furnished with a 8' by 20' walk in
cooler, donated freezers and steel shelving. It is designed to provide fresh
produce, frozen foods along with canned goods. Many organizations help us by
conducting food
drives throughout the year. For instance, last year - 2003 we received food
from Curves
for Women, our local Post Office, Saint Mary's Catholic, First Baptist,
New Bethel Baptist, Liberty Christian Fellowship, the Library,Cleveland Regional
Hospital and the school district of Cleveland and Splendora. Several organizations
in the school district have helped us such as the Cleveland High
School SWAT club and Care Bears along with the YMCA
