When you see secuirty cameras in stores, are there people watching us?
I was at Walgreens today, and I saw this little computer screen. It was a security camera. I started to wonder if there were people watching me right at that moment. I started to dance and do crazy stuff. And I waved at it! lol I asked my mom if there are people watching the camera, and she said YES.
Is that true??
If that is true..then I bet they were laughing their pants off!!!
depends on the store. some have teams of people monitoring every camera. some smaller store do and some don't
smaller store more often than not record the cameras and typically when the manager is in his office he might have a monitor.
So dance your heart out .. even if they're not watching, you might still end up on You Tube )
Home business security isn't just about protecting your PC from online intruders. You also need to protect your equipment, your home business information and your furnishings from unwelcome intruders. Here are some tips.
A few years back a security firm conducted an independent survey of computer theft. One insurance carrier alone reported 387,000 incidents of notebooks being stolen and another 16,000 PCs. This was only in the United States. This computer firm insures against such theft (a home business must for your crucial equipment) as well as damaged that is caused by accidents such as power surges, lightning, vandalism, water, and natural disasters. Of these situations, the report determined that the three most common for both home business, personal use and office environment property, were accidental damage (number one), theft (the second most prevalent) and power surges.
This firm's protection includes complete replacement or repair of the home business computer system, with no deduction if the system must be replaced. Computers in transit (such as laptops you're carrying on business trips) are covered to $10,000. The firm also provides for reimbursement on temporary rentals as well as protecting you from any computer fraud perpetrated on your online home business by staff or others. A wise home business owner would purchase such protection.
You can also protect your home business computer from theft in several ways. Not only can you help protect it from being taken in the first place but, in the event it is stolen you can protect its contents from intrusion and aid law enforcement in its retrieval and the capture of the thieves.
There are several firms offering a sort of Lojack for computers. Some of the products and services help deter theft with the use of alarms, while most are more into retrieval and protection of the data inside. With the majority of these home business equipment protection firms, all data on your PC or laptop is immediately locked down and inaccessible to anyone, rendering the computer useless to the thief except for parts. Most of these programs will let you pick and choose what you'd like someone locked out of so you don't necessarily have to wipe out your primary programs such as Office and others. They all send a signal that, once the thief starts up the stolen computer, indicates the address and / or phone location of your stolen equipment.
For those who want to keep their home business equipment safe at home there are clamps and cables such as bike lock cables that secure your equipment to whatever heavy home business furnishing, pipes or other permanent fixtures that will make it nearly impossible for a thief to remove the computer from your home business environment. What's important to keep in mind about this, too, is that your lock, clamp or cable doesn't need to be fool proof. Most burglars enter the homes and home business offices that are the most accessible. If they can't enter your home, enter your home office and remove your online business equipment in under ten minutes they'll give up and attempt their theft at a home whose entry and equipment is more easily accessible.

There are people out there that want to steal your car and if they don't steal the car they will break windows to get the contents. Cars get stolen daily in every city and town in the United States. Research shows that a car is stolen every 26 seconds. The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) states that in 2006, nationwide, there were approximately 1.2 million car thefts with losses of property valued at $7.9 Billion. The losses average out to nearly $6,650 per stolen car. The latter does not take into account the value of the contents that was stolen which totaled $1.3 Billion plus wheels, airbags and headlights that were stolen off cars totaled nearly $530 million.
Here is a small list of the area in which vehicles were stolen and how many vehicles were stolen: In Los Angeles and surrounding areas 73,922 vehicles were stolen; In Chicago and surrounding suburbs 37,623 vehicles were stolen; Phoenix and surrounding areas 34,182 vehicles were stolen; and in Dallas-Fort Worth 29,542 vehicles were stolen.
Furthermore, car theft is on the rise so; protect your vehicle and yourself with a remote start car alarm. If your car is protected there is usually a sticker in the window that lets the thief know the car is linked to something somewhere that will cause him trouble and he will just move on to an unprotected vehicle. The alarm systems usually have a sensor that can distinguish a large touch to an aggressive blow to the vehicle and a system that prevent hot wiring. Most of the newer cars now come with a remote start car alarm but if you have an older car without one, it can be installed.
The National Insurance Crime Bureau recommends multiple layers of security naming the following four:
Common sense
Warning device
Immobilizing device
Tracking device
If you have just bought a new car and you have what you have been told is a remote start car alarm test it out. Roll your window down enough to put your hand through. Now, try to open your door. If the horn honks you are protected. No honk, no protection.

As technology progresses at a very advanced rate, so does the need for companies to take advantage of easier and more effective ways of managing their business. By upgrading existing operations to industrial wireless radio remote controls, a company can stay current with today’s fast paced world along with making their work environment safer and more economical.
Industrial wireless radio remote controls take the place of complicated industrial wired applications that are inconvenient and take time away from the real job at hand. Anywhere there is a current on and off operation running through wired controls, a wireless radio remote control can take its place. Industrial wireless radio remote controls are designed to save space by eliminating bulking wires and connectors that can get in the way and become a safety hazard. By switching your current out-dated controls to modern wireless controls you are providing a safer work zone for you and your employees. The new technology of wireless controls can also save the company money by avoiding lengthy inspections and maintenance costs. The cost of wiring along with labor fees can also get expensive and the installation can be time consuming. The amount of time and money you save through long term use of industrial wireless radio remotes controls can be used for more important company projects.
There is a wide variety of wireless radio remote controls and a broad array of fields in which they can be used, including aviation and truck refueling systems, crane operations, farming machinery, concrete mixing trucks, mining jobs, towing vehicles, bulk plant and industrial facilities, and commercial trucking and machinery. These are just a few examples of where industrial wireless radio remote controls can be utilized. They can also be used for emergency shut down operations in buildings that may need to shut down at a moments notice. They are also used by operators and drivers of trucks or machinery for identification access to prevent theft and equipment from getting into the wrong hands.
These radio remote controls are designed to be rugged enough to withstand the rough wear and tear of everyday use. They are also waterproof and durable against weather ailments and accidental mishandling. They are interference free so there is no need to worry about your information getting transmitted to others. Industrial wireless radio remote controls are designed by the manufacturer for your job individually so you are sure your remote is perfect for the task at hand. With long battery life, your wireless remote control can be used for job after job with perfect performance.

In purchasing a DSLR, do I need to buy a Wireless Remote and a Battery Grip/Vertical Shutter too?
I was originally going to purchase just the body and the lens but
these two items popped up; the wireless remote and a battery grip/vertical shutter.
Are these two necessary for using a DSLR?
And yes, I do know the function of these two items.
However, I wasn't sure if I should purchase 'em or not.
Therefore, any suggestions on why or why not?
Thank you!
_Need_ to? No. I can see the use for the wireless remote already, and it will be thrown onto my next Amazon order ( I think there's a third-party one that's only $10). If you plan on low-light/night time/self-portraits, then definitely get this!
The battery grip would be good if you are planning on taking the camera out with you for really long days, or a longer weekend trip with nowhere to charge the camera. My XSi battery lasts a long time though, I've shot hundreds of photos in a day before, and it only was down by about half. The vertical shutter...eh...a luxury that I currently can't imagine actually needing that often. I would wait for the battery grip.
Interior Motion Detectors are one of the most cost efficient forms of protection currently available and if they are placed correctly, they can provide valuable protection. By strategically placing motion detectors in key areas such as hallways, living rooms, stairwells and entry ways, you can provide excellent protection without having to cover every single window in your home or business.
There are many different types of motion detectors including active and passive infrared, microwave and acoustical type sensors.
Most motion detectors utilize passive infrared technology to detect intruders. Passive infrared detectors do not put out any type of energy. They gauge the temperature of every thing they see and look for sudden changes in temperature. Something warm moving across a cold room or something cold moving across a warm room will set off the motion detector.
A typical passive infrared motion detector will utilize some type of signal processing to analyze motion and reduce false alarms caused by heaters and air conditioners, hot and cold drafts, sunlight, lightning and moving headlights. Specially designed lenses break down the coverage into opposing zones. Normally two or more horizontally opposed zones needs to detect motion in order to cause an alarm. Passive Infrared detectors can have single, dual or even quad detection elements that can greatly reduce false alarms.
Some motion detectors automatically adjust for timing, amplitude and heat signatures to reduce false alarms from small targets such as rodents and small pets while maintaining the catch performance of humans sized targets. Many have changeable coverage patterns to adjust for large rooms, hallways, barriers or pet coverage.
Dual Technology Detectors combine active microwave signals with Passive Infrared in order to reduce false alarms. The active microwave sends out a signal in the 10 GHz frequency that bounces off fixed objects in the room which creates a repetitive reflection that is sensitive to background disturbances.
In some cases the detectors have an intelligent circuit built in that adapts to adjust to certain background disturbances. You should know that unlike passive infrared, microwave signals will go through walls, ceilings, or other hard obstacles and detect motion. Cars driving through the alley, people moving in the next room or even a ceiling fan in an adjacent office will set it off the microwave portion of the motion detector and effectively turn it into a single technology detector. This can be avoided by making careful adjustments to the coverage pattern and walk testing to insure proper coverage.
Ultrasonic or acoustical type motion detectors were widely used in the early 80's, but have since fallen out of favor. They transmit an ultra-sonic frequency that is way above what the human hear can detect. This frequency is reflected off of fixed objects in the room which then bounce back in a certain pattern. Moving objects disrupt the pattern and set off the alarm.
A problem with these early ultrasonic detectors is that they would actually burn-in a frequency after being in service for a while. Then, if someone moved the objects around in the room where the motion was located, the detector would not clear because the frequencies did not match.
