When you see secuirty cameras in stores, are there people watching us?
I was at Walgreens today, and I saw this little computer screen. It was a security camera. I started to wonder if there were people watching me right at that moment. I started to dance and do crazy stuff. And I waved at it! lol I asked my mom if there are people watching the camera, and she said YES.
Is that true??
If that is true..then I bet they were laughing their pants off!!!
depends on the store. some have teams of people monitoring every camera. some smaller store do and some don't
smaller store more often than not record the cameras and typically when the manager is in his office he might have a monitor.
So dance your heart out .. even if they're not watching, you might still end up on You Tube )
Technology such as Home Alarm Systems covered in this article are rapidly changing our world in many ways and becoming more affordable for the average person. It's worth mentioning however that better technology is actually properly defined as simply a better way of doing something we already do with whatever process we have at hand. Rather than thinking of better technology in terms of computers, hi tech gadgets and such, for example anytime we find a way to get to work 5mins faster than before we have found a better technology to improve our lives in some respect.
Australia has certainly conformed to the concept of the home security system. We are through with the fear of intruders penetrating our homes. Although a large dog can offer great protection, it is smart to go with a good home security system to protect our loved ones. In this unpredictable world, we never know what is going to happen next.
The idea of a home security system didn't seem to exist when I was growing up. I mean, I knew rich people had security systems, and many businesses, but it wasn't common for most of the country to have one in their homes. I recall never worrying about a break in, but this was probably due to my father being in law enforcement, plus we were way out in the country. These days it doesn't really matter where you reside, a home security system is typical. The rise in crime over the years certainly hasn't helped the situation any. Many families feel the need to have some sort of alarm system.
**Running Commentary** - Its interesting to note at this point that the cost of Home Alarm Systems is going to range in price quite a bit and you really need to first identify your needs and wants and when you go shopping make sure you don't overspend for features you want but don't really need. As technology so quickly becomes obsolete 1. many of the features will become obsolete 2. later models will be cheaper if not superseded by a later model with newer features and 3. are you going to actually have time to read the whole manual and understand how all the features work ? (I know I never figure out all the features of any new gadget or gizmo I buy)
The home security systems available today are pretty nifty. They have sensors that virtually surround your home, allowing you to know if anyone is attempting to break in. There are also single buttons you push to notify different authorities for help, which can be much quicker than calling the police. For individuals who can't get around well, this is a great security to have. A panic room is even a step further in this process. This will allow you to enter a secured room that cannot be penetrated by intruders. You can't get much safer than that. You keep supplies inside in case you have to stay in there for days.
While the notion of a home security system stirs relief in many, you have to be wary of what's going on to truly be safe. Therefore you need to make sure your home is secure inside before setting the alarm system, because if the intruder is already in, it's useless. Some people actually forget this necessary measure. When in the market for a new home security system, it is good to check around with different services and products. This way you ensure the best bang for your buck. The most expensive in not always the best. Simple security devices such as cameras and window alarms can be purchased online at reasonable prices. All in all, these new-age devices are well worth your money if used properly.
To wrap up our article about Home Alarm Systems I wish you luck in putting your new technology to use in your home/work life. In the last 20 years I have seen so many examples of new technology come and go I can't help feeling excited about what I'm going to see in the next 20 years. Although many people seem to feel a sense of foreboding about new things changing their lives in a negative way I must confess that I don't have this fear at all (at the ripe old age of 40 anyway). I understand that new and changing technology is not only inevitable but in fact is opening up more opportunities for us all than ever before in our history and we should only feel threatened if we choose to cling to the past and somehow expect the rest of the world around us to do the same
What is a better home security alarm systems? Hardwired security alarm or wireless security alarm?
I am also looking for an alarm system for my business
Hardwired security alarms will always be superior to wireless security alarms. The simple fact being, modern airwaves are being increasingly cluttered with Radio Frequency (RF) Interference. This which interfere with wireless security alarm systems are many and can range from the simple high voltage power line to wireless routers and radio towers..
The thing is, wireless is highly unpredictable, particularly in security alarm systems. You may have a perfectly sound wireless security alarm system for years, then all of a sudden the neighbour 3 blocks away decides to purchase a ham radio. All of a sudden, the monitoring station is getting panic alarm, the police are being send on what appears to be a weekly basis and you have fines from the city for excessive false alarms.
Hardwired security alarm systems, on the other hand, are far more reliable in that they are not as susceptible to the problems of RF. Sure, if there is a strong source of RF behind a motion detector some of the older models may falsely activate. However this is simply fixed by replacing the detector with one with a higher level of RF Shielding.
Fact of the matter is, no security alarm system is entirely free from the possibility of false alarms. Hardwired security alarm systems are, however, much less prone to issues. Hardwired security alarm detectors are also universally compatible between hardwired security alarm systems; Wireless security alarm detectors typically only function with the wireless security alarm system for which they were designed - this can result in expensive system replacements if one wireless security alarm detector fails.
There is more information on the differences between wireless and hardwired security alarm systems on my website at http://www.keepsafesystems.ca There is an article entitled "the truth about wireless security systems" in the archive.
Security Camera Systems, Video Surveillance Systems or Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) Systems are all common names used for electronic systems comprised of security cameras, video recorders and other equipment used in viewing and recording events in facilities and more. These systems are primarily used for protection of assets and personal safety which include the following:
Perimeter Surveillance
Access Control
Vehicle Number Plate Recognition
In addition to the most common uses of CCTV Systems, as mentioned above, law enforcement agencies and large organizations may require this technology to gather evidence and/or add legitimacy to decision-making processes. To a lesser extent, even small and medium size businesses may require the use of CCTV Systems. If you look around, you'll find installations in court rooms, identification rooms, community centers, detention centers, factory floors, banking institutions, amusement parks, and even in corporate board rooms.
Depending on the purpose of your CCTV installation, you may find that your surveillance and protection can be enhanced by integrating with other security process and systems such as officers at access points and perimeter patrols. Use at business parks, hotels, hospitals, golf estates and theme parks immediately come to mind.
Real Time viewing of CCTV footage is necessarily associated with a Control Room or a Security Center. Multiple cameras will be linked to a control room where a security operator will monitor incidents and assess appropriate responses required. There has been lots of progress specific to camera activation upon detection of movement. This allows the security operator to monitor multiple cameras at once with immediate alerts for areas requiring attention. Alternatively, you may have the need to look at footage after the fact, after it has been recorded. Monitoring staff on a factory floor could be an example of a typical application.
Although the first CCTV security cameras and systems were limited and costly, today's solutions are applied to use in medical imagery, robotics, traffic control, marketing, production line monitoring and much, much more. These systems fall into three different types: analog, digital, and network.
Before deciding on the implementation of CCTV in your home or designated workplace, it is important to identify the purpose of the project as this will determine what equipment will be required. There's no sense to buying too much or too little equipment to fit the job. You should think about answering the following questions:
How important is real time viewing? That is seeing the current images?
Will the CCTV System be backed up by a control room?
Will the CCTV System be linked to other networks and/or security monitoring systems such as alarms?
Is the CCTV System being applied as a deterrent?
Do you anticipate the need to integrate with other security systems such as security guards, a digital door lock system, or an industrial monitoring system?
Is the CCTV System required for the gathering of evidence?
Will CCTV footage be required for criminal procedures if need be?
Is the project of clandestine nature?
The success to any type of implementation, especially when it involves technology is a solid definition of people, process, and product. The importance of establishing synergy between your security policies, system functionalities, and employees (or family members) cannot be over elaborated. Disregard for this step can lead to misconceptions and disillusionment. Without proper planning and coordination, between people, process, and product, you could face catastrophic results, especially relative to the results you seek and the financial implications they could cause.
A classic example of the importance of synergy between policies and systems is an automatic fire alarm system. This system is designed to detect the unwanted presence of fire by monitoring environmental changes associated with combustion. Whether at home, in an office, or a factory floor, well documented procedures signal a series of actions you take upon hearing (or seeing) fire alarms. In addition to evacuation, the alarm may summon emergency services, and to prepare the structure and associated systems to control the spread of fire and smoke.
It's important to note that a fire alarm notification appliance may use audible, visible, tactile, textual, or even olfactory stimuli to alert occupants of potential danger. Audible or visible signals are the most common notifications and use of speakers to deliver live or precorded messages is common.
Although the product selection is vast and there are hundreds of suppliers, rest assured there is an ideal system with even its minimum configuration to meet your financial and security needs. Design your surveillance system and rest assured that you have a 24 hour, 7 day a week watchdog looking after your family and business.

The two main types of burglar alarms suitable for residences are hard wired and wireless burglar alarms. Hard wired alarms can be costly to install and maintain, so most homeowners these days find that a wireless alarm will best suit their needs.
At one time only those with expensive possessions and big houses would have considered installing an alarm, however with increasing break-ins and violent assaults homeowners today are more likely to purchase an alarm system to ensure home and family are safe. Wireless alarm systems are inexpensive and can easily be found at your local home improvement store. Simple enough to install yourself there's no need to employ a contractor to do the job if you are competent enough at DIY.
The advantages of a wireless burglar alarm are plenty, if you do decide to move house in the future then they can be taken down very easily and taken with you to be fitted at the new house, or leave it where it is and have it as an added selling feature for prospective buyers.
The sensors that come with a wireless alarm can be fitted more or less where you like, place them at strategic points such as interior doorways and windows, on the stairs or anywhere else you consider important. There are various types available from simple motion alarms to ones that incorporate smoke detectors, or are fitted with security cameras. They can either be used as stand alone systems which basically means no wires to attach, or together with a hard wired system depending on your specifics.
The ESP infinite wireless burglar alarm kit offers full protection against intruders and break-ins. The system is relatively simple to fit and batteries are long-lasting so it is practically maintenance free, the main advantage to most homeowners is that there are no wires to spoil the décor.

As well as alerting you to an intruder, the system is also compatible with wireless smoke detectors which are fitted to the existing system offering your home maximum security. The only cables that are required for a system such as this are the main power cable that is plugged into a local socket.
Incorporating certain security measures to protect your home and family will give you peace of mind that you are doing everything possible to look after your family. i need a recommendation for a motion detector for if someone breaks a window in my car or something?
this morning i found my car with the drivers window shattered and my tomtom gps stolen. my alarm system didn't go off. so i guess what needs to be added to my alarm is a motion detector for if someone breaks the glass and reaches inside. any recommendations ?
i did check on google they do make them but i just wanted to know which one is good and worth it. and they werent that much money
There's not really a "motion sensor" for a car alarm system, however it should have gone off when the window was shattered. It could be that your alarm system is only for tampered handles/locks. My brothers goes off if you look at it funny, and that's not a joke. It just depends on what you have. I'm not aware of any system that protects shattered windows, but you should research Google or something. They can be a tad expensive.
3-20-09: OK well I looked, and when it comes to these things, the one that would be best is one of the more expensive ones. It will save you money in the long run, since you won't have to replace any more GPS's.
I have a terrace house and someone keeps damaging my car. I probably need to cameras, each facing different ways. How can I place two camera without it being obvious from a mid terraced house and can any one advise of a complete system?
(sorry for the typos)
You can get external weather proof cameras that are very small. You could maybe install one under the guttering/drainage at high level, wiring up through the loft space. I brought a camera kit from maplins ages ago which was fairly cheap and came with a 15 metre lead. You could also get some software to run cameras from your PC and also record. hope this helps.
